[ ] i went to NCAA games last week
So, Mrs Murphy got me pretty good last week. I was under the impression that we were going to Chicago last Thursday-Monday for my "surprise" b-day weekend. Well, we got in the car Thursday to drive to Chicago, but about 30 minutes into the trip, she broke the news to me that we were going to the airport and flying to Lakeland Florida to go to Detroit Tigers spring training!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Winning!! It was pretty awesome! Literally everyone i knew had known about this for months and nobody ruined the surprise. 3 of my friends were in on it to, and they met us down there. We are all pretty die hard baseball fans, but none of us had ever been to spring training. It was pretty sweet. We are already talking about planning to go again next year. I ended up catching 3 home runs during batting practice the first game which were my first 3 balls ever at a game. I ended up catching the one barehanded which at the time was pretty sweet. Fast forward to the game. We are sitting in the 2nd row down the 3rd baseline and a scrub for the Braves lines one foul. The ball is hooking and i realize it's coming right for us. I lean forward, beer in my right hand, reach out my left hand, and snag the line drive!!!!!!! Aside from the tigers winning the game in the bottom of the 9th, it probably got the biggest ovation from the crowd. I think the best part was that i didn't spill a drop of my beer AND didn't drop the ball either. I couldn't get my ring off my hand for the next day since a few of my fingers were swollen, but it was well worth the pain. It's funny how many people during the rest of the game came up to me to tell me what a great catch i made lol. I was standing in line to re-fuel and i even had a few people congratulate me there and we weren't even in my section anymore. All in all it was a great trip. I ended up getting a pretty bad sunburn on my face and scalp, but it's pretty much gone now and i have a nice tan at this point. It sucked having to come back here to 40 degree weather, but whatever...spring is a coming! I got asked by a member who i played with once at the end of last season to be his partner for the mens league over at the country club, so i'm pretty excited about that. I would probably rather partner up with a friend, or someone more my age, but this guy is a department head over at the University, and kind of a big shot, so he's def a good guy to get to know. Season starts April 20th and runs through Sept so it should be a really good time. There is actually decent money to be won but i just like the competitiveness of it. Hitting shots when they matter is a whole lot different then messing around with friends on a Saturday afternoon. Plus it should help my tournament game playing in a competitive round every week. Ok, Tigers/Yankees game just started, so going to make some coffee and watch the game. Sorry for the 2 week gap in posts...it's been a busy 2 weeks! Murph

Update
So, gonna make this quick so i can get back to actually paying attention to the basketball game. Poker has been pretty blah this month. I'm up some money, which is more then i can say for last month, so i guess that's a good thing. I was actually having a really good month to start until the -11 buy in day.
Heading to Chicago tonight until Sunday. Mrs Murph has been planning my B-day for months, and the weekend is finally here. It's a complete surprise, so she won't tell me anything she has planned and it's kind of enraging. I hate surprises, and i like knowing where/what i'm going to be doing everyday when i wake up in the morning. I'm thinking she bought tickets for the 1st round of the NCAA tourny though since she told me to take Friday off work, AND one of the regions is in Chicago, but aside from that, i'm in the dark. I'm hoping for a fun weekend though!
Golf season is pretty much here which is money. The country club opened the course this week, so i think i'm going to try to play Sunday when we get back into town. The weather isn't great (forecast says high 50's), but i've been itching to play for a month now. I hit balls for the 1st time since November on Monday and it's like i hadn't stopped playing. It was amazing how well i hit the ball when i hadn't touched a club for months (didn't do any chipping or putting which i'm sure will take a few weeks to get back). I'm hoping to have a very good year golfing, and plan to play the same 6-7 local tournaments i played last year, plus a few at the country club. I changed my work schedule around for the spring/summer, so i should be able to get out and play 4-5 times a week if i want (probably won't play too much on weekends though), so it'll be like playing 3-4 times a week.
Alright have a good weekend all, hope all of your final 4 teams are still alive after the weekend (i have 3 #1's and a #3) going to the final 4. Run good one time please!!

RACK HIM
Ok, as mentioned in my previous post, i plan to list my top 5 moments in my life. Since i don't actually have a top 5, that could be tough. I do know of a few though, so i'll start with #5. Calling into the Jim Rome show and getting racked. (You know you've led a fascinating life when THIS is a top 5 moment).
I've been huge Romey fan for close to a decade now. I've gone through periods of listening where i'd listen to all 3 hours just about everyday, to not listening for 4 or 5 months. Currently, i'm probably listening to 30-40 minutes a day. I don't actually remember the date (or year for that matter), but it was probably back in 2002. I was sitting around listening to Romey and he was talking about Tiger Woods and Steve Williams (his caddie). I decided i needed to be heard and said screw it, i'm calling the show (for the 1st time ever) and if i get through, i'm going to go off on the 2 of them. I call a few times and get a busy signal, but after a few tries, the phone starts ringing (YES!!!!!!!). After a few rings, J Stew answers and asks what i want to talk about. I tell him i plan to blow up Tiger and he says ok and puts me on hold. 15 minutes go by...nothing. 25 minutes go by....nothing. Now i'm both A)getting nervous and B)thinking he isn't going to go to my call. As i'm waiting, i'm becoming more and more nervous because i don't want to flame out mid-call. I begin to jot down some point form notes (like most clones) about what i want to talk about. If you don't know, Rome has a VERY short leash with callers, and ANY stumbling and you will get hung up on. So another 10 minutes go by, and i start thinking my point form notes aren't enough. I begin to literally write out my ENTIRE rant, word for word. (this is fairly common when ppl call into his show. See peoples calls ERRRRRR reads). After another 10 minutes or so, i've got my entire call written down and i'm reading to go.
At this point, it's been close to an hour of being on hold, and i'm starting to think i won't get on. My ears perk up when John Feinstein is his next guest, and they spent the next 10 minutes talking golf and Tiger Woods. Now i'm practically shitting my pants. I KNOW when he gets back from commercial, he's going to go to my call since that is specifically what i told J Stew i wanted to talk about. Sure enough, he comes back from break, and says lets go to "____ in _____). I"M ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My call errrrrrrrrrrrrr read goes off without a hitch, and i hear the most beautiful words you can hear when you end your call....RACK HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If i had to guess, i'd say my heart rate was beating over 200 beats/minute while i was going off on the phone. I hang up the phone literally shaking and the funniest thing ever happens. A buddy of mine calls me up and says "OMG were u just on the Jim Rome show? " He was just randomly listening and heard my name and city i lived in, and heard the call. Since this was so spur of the moment, i hadn't told anyone i was calling into the show. If i had planned this better, i probably would've told everyone i know i was calling into the Jim Rome show today.
Anyway, lame to most i know, but being such a die hard fan, and getting my call racked, was F ing amazing!! I was all set up to be the huge call of the day too, but Don in Nocal (a regular caller) called in like 15 minutes before the show was over and stole my thunder and Rome gave him huge call of the day.
For a while, i had Rome as my voicemail on my phone. I basically rigged it so i said
"Hi you've reached"
"___ in ____" Jim Rome from the call
"i can't get to the phone right now, but leave a message and i'll call you back
"Rack him" again Jim Rome saying this
Ahhhh the good old days.

I probably won't be doing monthly reviews but since this was my worst month of all time, i figured i'd make an exception. The graph pretty much sums up the month. Was stuck 3k 5 days into the month and it was an uphill battle the entire time. I made a pretty nice comeback though, so all things considering, it wasn't that bad. I'm not 100%, but i also think 80k hands is the most i've ever put in for a month. It's wierd, when i'm losing, i always want to play more but when i'm winning, i don't mind putting in short sessions, and only playing 40k hands/month. The way things were going at the end of the month, if Feb was a typical 30/31 day month, i bet i would've finished in the green. It really doesn't matter though since we as poker players shouldn't judge ourselves on a month by month basis (but most of us do). Anyway, so long Feb 2011...you won't be missed.
I have a plan to blog about my top 5 greatest moments of my life at some point. I'm actually not even sure what they are since i haven't really though about it too much, but my next post will be the start of the top 5. Spoiler alert....it was when i got racked on the Jim Rome show. If you don't know what it means to get racked, kindly never come to this blog again...thanks.

Weekend Wrap Up
So friday i ended up going out for dudes night out. We went to the local AHL hockey game at 7pm. I realized what the best (only?) good thing about going to a hockey game is. There are TWO long breaks. This lets you grab a few pops before the game, after the 1st period AND after the 2nd period without having to miss any of the action. So after the game we are walking to the parking garage and my buddy says "man cops could make a killing if they just sat at the parking garage exit and gave people BAC tests since most of the people were leaving the game waxed (us included). He then proceeds to turn the wrong way onto a busy one way street exiting the parking garage (i couldn't make that up if i tried). Thankfully he was able to turn around before A)getting into an accident and B)blowing a 0.15 on the BAC and picking up a DUI.
Next stop was a local watering hole etc etc etc. The cab back to his house was interesting. The cab driver would not stop talking to us and the only thing that actually got him to shut up was when i had to open the car door while we were driving becuz i was seconds away from puking. His tone changed very quickly once he realized i was ready to yack all over his cab. Thankfully, we made it back to his house without me puking everywhere but i'm still bitter since the plan when we got into the cab was to hit up taco bell, but by the time we got there, the last thing in the wolrd i wanted was taco bell.
Let me tell you your body DOES NOT recover the same way after a night of drinking like it did in college. I felt like shit all day Saturday, and this wasn't helped by the fact that i had to drive an hour and a half home at 8am to meet Mrs Murphy and the home builder.
Saturday night we planned on just relaxing but our friends asked us if we wanted their tickets to the basketball game, and since they only have 2 home games left this year, we figured we should probably take them and go. Thankfully we pulled out a W and had a good time at the game. Maybe we'll end up avoiding the NIT after all.
On the way home we hit up one of those redbox movie rental things (1st time i've ever used them). We watched "Buried". It's the movie where Ryan Reynolds is buried alive in a casket and he is the only person they show the entire movie. I won't say too much about it in case you haven't seen it, but i had very high expectations for the movie since it got an 88 on rotten tomatoes and halfway through the movie i was on life tilt. At that point the movie was God awful!!!!! The end of the movie ended up being awesome and it saved the movie, so all in all i'd say it was a good rental.
Ok, time for some dinner. Mrs Murph made Chicken stir fry (for those that read Doubleflys blog, i won't be posting any food shots...sorry).

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaack
Due to popular demand, i'm going to start blogging again. I figured since a few of my "friends" over at a certain poker forum were checking this blog first thing every morning, i'll leave them a nice surprise when they check back.
I'm not really sure what the breakdown of my blogging is going to be. I'm thinking 50% life, 50% poker. I don't want to give out too much personal information since there are a few crazies on the aforementioned poker forum that for some reason really want to know more about me and i really don't feel like coming home one day seeing a ransom letter on my dinning room table saying they have Mrs. Murph (joking obv...mostly).
Poker: Poker has been going about has bad as it has ever gone for me. I'm on my way to booking my first losing month since i've been playing professionally (2+ years). If i don't have a pretty huge last week of Feb, i will have lost $$$ at the tables. The good news is that i bought the FTP 5k bonus this month (coincidence?) AND i shipped $600 in the super bowl squares pool, so all that taken into consideration, i'm going to end up having a decent month bankroll wise, but that doesn't take away from the fact that i'm probably going to end up booking a "losing month". December 2010 i had my worst ever month to date, so having my 2 worst months as a poker player in a 3 month span hurts.
I think i've been running situationally about as bad a humanly possible. I'm 7 or 8 buy ins -ev also, and it's just destroyed my confidence. What's wierd is that my stats have been TIGHTER this month than ever before (shouldn't i be going on tilt and playing more hands when getting crushed?) W/e though. I shipped 1k these past few days, so i'm on the uptick hopefully.
Life: Leaving Mrs Murph behind and having a dudes night out tonight, so pretty jacked about that. Dudes night out isn't quite the same though when you're in your 30's, and have friends with kids, but it still should be a good time. There is a chance some live poker will be involved, so if we hit up the casino, i'll post some interesting hands.
We are 98% sure we are going to be building a house this spring. We meet with the builder tomorrow for the 2nd time, and if all goes well, we should be breaking ground next week. Pretty excited to be moving into the neighborhood that our plot is in as it's one of the nicest subdivisions in town AND it's less than 0.5 miles from the head coach of the football team (rather not say the school for reasons mentioned above).
Pretty jacked about golf season too. We joined the country club last year, so i plan on playing golf at least 3-4 times a week. Course is one of the tougher courses around, so it's a very frustrating course to play, but i like a challenge, and all the members say if you can go low here, you can go low ANYWHERE, so as frustrating as it's going to be playing almost all my golf there, it should take my game to the next level...i hope.
Ok, gonna grab something to eat. I'll try to update a few times a week. I kept this thing going for almost 2 years on a pretty regular basis, so i think i can do it again.

It's golf season baby
So, i decieded to dust of the clubs and begin golf season a little early. When i left the house, it was like 50 and pretty sunny...relatively calm outside. By the time i teed off, the sun was pretty much gone, and it was insanely windy...probably 25mph winds. What do i do?? Slap a 38 on the front 9 of the U of I orange course!!!!!!!!!!!! It was wierd for a 1st round. My ball striking wasn't great, but my short game was pretty silly! So i get to the back 9 thinking man i could really put together a nice round here...7 bogeys later i step to the 17th tee a beaten man lol. Oh well, parred 17 and 18 for an 81. All in all a pretty good day. I literally lost my swing on the 13th hole though...i rolled a tee shot...then another...then another...6 more later, i gave up (technically it wasn't an 81 since i just used a muligan here...it didn't matter since my 6th drive was pretty much next to my 1st...about 75 yards away lol). Then i rolled my drive on the 14th too, so considering that, i'm happy with the round, espeically considering it was so windy during the day that downwind from 158, i played a pitching wedge, and into the wind, from 160, i hit a FOUR IRON!!!! So yeah...good start to the season!! I'm actually planning on playing the Illinois state amateur this year...the qualifying is a sick course here, so i'm not expecting much, but i'm excited to play some tournament golf...i figure i'll just really put in the practice hours a month or so b4 the qualifier...i'll keep u all posted...i'm looking for a caddy, so if you live in the area...hit me up!

This hand bascially sums up the month for me. Thankfully i finished in the black for the month, but made less than 1k. The people have spoken
So after a unanimous poll, i guess i will have to continue this blog...ty to all of you who voted! Nothing much going on...i ran a disgusting $700 under ev this weekend, and only ended up losing a couple hundred bucks, so i guess thats not too bad. This month really hasn't been going great. A stong Jan and Feb have my expectations a bit high i guess, but i was hoping to be up more than i am halfway through the month. Not sure if i mentioned this before, but i'm going to vegas Thurs-Mon this week!! It should be a pretty epic trip since its all dudes going, AND its the 1st week of the ncaa tourny. Since the wife isn't going, i'm looking to get a ton of grinding in, and if all goes well, i'll make enough to cover the expenses of the trip. Let me run good one time!!

The end of an era???
So in case you haven't noticed, it's been a while since i've blogged. I've realized my blog bascially turned into nothing more than an update how how much money i won/lost each month. There was no real content in the past few months. That being said. Feb. was a really good month money wise. Overall, i don't think i played that well, but i absolutely crushed it playing heads up, and play over 60k hands of full ring, so between the HU and rakeback, i had a really solid month.
There is a chance i'm not going to be blogging anymore. I really don't feel like advertising how i'm doing in poker...those of you who know me, will find out anyway. There is still a decent chance i'll keep the blog going though, i'll just have to post a little more often then i had been. I'm going to set up a poll on whether or not i should keep the blog going.
Oh, i'm going to be in Vegas March 19-23rd, so if you see my grinding at the poker tables...do yourself a favor and don't sit at my table..your bank account will thank you LOL.

Well, i planned on being done for the month, but since im a degenerate, i needed to play today. I ended up losing $80 playing omaha8 and stud8, but kind of made up for it winning another $610 playing 100nl. So if u want to get techinical, i won $5617 this month!!!!!!! I'm actually just going to start Feb today, so this extra $530 is going to show up on the Feb graph, but non the less, this makes my sickest month ever quite a bit sicker!!! Weeeeeeeeeee

Jan Review...Decent Month
So, as you can see, i got off to a pretty decent start to 2009. The grand total for the month was $5087!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sickest month by nearly $2k! The month was helped by my $350 full tilt year end bonus. Also booked about $400 in rakeback too. It was such a wierd month. Everyday i would book a huge win, i would expect the next day to have a losing day, giving some of it back (seems to be the way it goes with me), but it just never happened. The insane thing is, it's not like a ran super hot, i just literally ran into TONS of donkeys just handing me there money. I only played 8k of heads up, but crushed it for about the same rate as i did last month. I seriously need to somehow motivate myself to play more heads up though. I wanted to play at least 10k hands of heads up this month, but i crushed full ring so bad, that i felt like i might as well ride the wave while i can.
There really isn't too much else to say i guess. I am absolutely elated about how this month went, but i know i probably won't continue this way for the rest of 2009. It feels pretty good to be 1/4 of the way to my goal in 2009 1 month in though!! Who knows though, maybe my poker game really is coming together perfectly right now. I really revamped my game about 6 months ago, and i really hadn't seen the results i was expecting from this change i made. Maybe i have finally figured out the perfect way to maximze value playing this style. I still would like to start incorporating more 200nl into my everyday play though. I'm still only playing 1 table of 200nl with all my 100nl tables, and thats only if i can find a donkey at the 200nl tables. Oh well, 100nl has been pretty good to me, and i feel SOOOOO comfortable sticking my whole stack in weak, or a draw, whereat 200nl, i don't feel comfortable doing that, which means i won't be playing my A game.
Ok, got some other amazing news, and i may post about it later today, who knows. Have a good superbowl weekend all, and heres to running hot in Feb.!

2008 YEAR IN REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!
So, i'm 2 weeks late, but i think i'm ready for the year in review. Looking back on 2008, it was quite a year. My poker game has evolved quite a bit, and i think the funniest thing is that i started out the year playing multi tables and SNG's, and i ended the year playing strictly cash games. I think the days of playing multi tables for me are pretty much over. I just really can't stand them. It's a love hate though. There is nothing quite like making a final table, and the feeling you get when you take one down, but i just feel like that euphoric feeling does not outweigh the constant feeling of losing a flip and busting out, or getting sucked out on, and busting out. In cash games when the donk sucks out, you can rebuy and try to get your money back, but in donkaments, you're done. I just think cash games are the way my game is heading now. Funny thing is, looking back on a post from almost exactly a year ago, i was saying how SNG's were my bread and butter, and i haven't played a sng for 7 or 8 months now lol.
I started the year playing sngs 50nl, and now i'm playing a mix of 100nl and 200nl. I like the small progress i have made moving up stakes, but to be honest with you, i really don't have aspirations to play anything higher than 200nl. 400nl is a VERY hard game to beat, and i'm not sure i would ever feel comfortable sticking $400 in the middle on nothing more than a draw, or even worse, a bluff. I guess i probably would've said the same thing about $200 one year ago, so who knows, but you can make a pretty decent living playing 200nl. As far as other goals, i'll save that for another my next post.
Onto the bottom line. I'm not going to get into specifics since i was too lazy to breakdown the winnings by site/rakeback/bonuses/etc..but in 2008, i netted $16,678!!!!! Seeing as 1 year ago, my goal for 2008 was to make 10k (a goal i realistically didnt think was possible), i would say it was an excellent year! I didnt get pokertracker until april, so posting my poker tracker graph would be pretty useless, and again, i don't know how many hands i played on the year either although i wish i did. My biggest month was March were i won $3055 and i had one losing month (not sure if this is good or bad...i feel like even having 1 losing month is VERY bad, but i may be being too hard on myself) and that was September where i lost a measly $192. I pretty much averaged $1400/month. For a quick glance into 2009, i really feel like $1400/month is not going to be something i am very happy with. I feel like my game has evolved quite a bit over the last 6 months, and by starting to play some HU, my game is only expanding, so i really feel like 2009 is going to even better than 2008!
Anyway, i'm getting off point. This should be a very joyous post because i met, and exceeded my goal for 2008 by over 50%! I actually got absolutely crushed today in HU running an unbelivable 6 buy ins -ev, and was in no mood to do the year in review, but decieded to do it anyway. After i tallied up the numbers, i was in one of my better moods in a while! Not to brag too much or anything, but it feels pretty amazing knowing that i made this kind of money from a stupid game we call poker!! 99.9% of people out there play poker just like they play gin, or hearts with the family or with friends, but i turned this "hobby" into something productive. Addiction???? You can call it that i guess, but ask yourself this....if you knew you could make 16k doing something you love to do, wouldn't you put in a couple hours a day doing it?? If you answered no to this, you are probably lying to yourself, or you're a hater. I call it hard work, plain and simple. I put in more time than post poker players playing/reading/watching videos/learning and this is my reward for it. I am not a lucky person, i am a dedicated person. I had a goal to learn and beat the game of poker, and eventhough i am still lightyears away from mastering it, i have a pretty good grasp for the game of poker. Put the time in yourself, practice practice practice and you'll start to win money in this game too...i promise you!! A few years ago, i turned a hobby into an obsession, and i am reaping the benefits from it now! In other words, "get your ink, or go give him a hand"
I think that's enough for now, as i'm sure nobody is actually reading at this point anyway. I comtemplated ending my blog seeing as i rarely update it with anything juicy or even interesting, so i'm still not sure if i'm going to keep it going. Blogs come and go, and at some point this blog has to end, so maybe this is a good time...i'll pull an Elway, and go out on top! December Review
So, sorry for kind of punting on the blog for the last couple weeks. I've been pretty swamped with work, and i know to do the year in review, i'm going to have to go back through all the blogs, which will take a bit of effort, hence i haven't done it yet.
That being said, i hope to do the year in review this weekend. I have my December review done though. I finally had a pretty good month (1st time since the summer i think). Like i said at the beginning of the month, i really wanted to get in a lot of heads up, and i played about 10k hands of heads up, and absolutely crushed it for an awesome win rate. I said my goal was to get 5k hands of heads up in for december, and doubled that! This month my goal is to get 10k hands in. Including rakeback and quite a bit of omaha8 and stud8, i ended the month up like $2725. My omaha8 game has really been coming around too which is nice. The only reason i'm playing it is becuz since i really don't accumulate fulltilt points playing heads up, i need another way to get my 100 for the day, and if i don't feel like 9 tabling full ring, i can just 2 table 2/4 omaha8 while watching tv to get 100 points.
So far this month, i am absolutely crushing it!! I don't want to say how much i'm up, becuz last month i did that, and the VERY next session i played, i got crushed, so i'll keep it on the d.l. but lets just say i pwning people! In January i'm looking to get in around 30k hands or so as oppossed to the 20k this month (took a week off for x-mas). It's not really about the number of hands right now, becuz i can only 2 table heads up, so its hard to put in a crazy amount of hands.
Ok, like i said, hopefully this weekend, i can put the yr in review up, but with my strong December, i may have made a nice piece of change on 2008! Have a good weekend all, and just an FYI, if i tell you to bet on a game, just bet the opposite...my last 2 locks (indy v san diego and Okla money line were both big losers!

Been awhile
Not too much has been going on with me lately. Took a MASSIVE hit last weekend following my nice start to the month (standard), but i've grinded it all back, and then some, so i'm feeling pretty good about my game right now. I think my goal was 5k hands of heads up this month, and i'm already at like 7k, and it's going pretty well. I feel like my heads up game is really solid right now, and im looking forward to playing more heads up in 09! Going home for a week 19-26th, so no poker then which kind of sucks, but the break will be nice. Hopefully i can finish this week strong, take a week off, and finish the month even stronger!
Anyway, gonna jet...i have to get up at 415am tomorrow for work (dagger!), so i'm going to bed pretty early tonight. You may notice the pokerstars logo on the top of my blog...im signed up for the world blogging champaionships on stars...its pretty amazing actually...6 free chances at some pretty nice prizes, so wish me luck in those...i think i'll only be able to play 4 of the tournies though. Random thought/ 2 bets
The random thought of the day is for all the people out there that don't have a garage to keep your car in...what are you doing with you life??? Keep scraping the ice off of your car every morning, and waiting 20 minutes for the car to warm up. Get off of felt street and get a house with a garage!

On the poker front, we are 5 days into December, and i'm up about $1300...cue the doomswitch for me bragging how much i'm up. Have a good weekend people...i'm having some money cuban fusion for dinner tonight and 6pm can't come fast enough!

Vegas part 2/ November review
Ended the month up $260...i'm starting to question my poker playing abilities...seriously wtf!!! $260?!?!?!?!?! Granted i only played like 20k hands, this shit is unacceptable. To be honest with you (i'm too lazy to figure it out), but this profit is probably soley from rakeback...i played a little omaha8 and probably lost around $100 this month. Oh well, i'm turning over a new leaf of sorts in December. For the past 3 months, i've dabbled some heads up cash games, for a really nice profit. I've only played 2500 hands at the most though. This month, it's my goal to really try to log at least 5000 hands of heads up poker. 2 problems with this are that i will pretty much be making no rakeback from this, and it's gonna be tough to maintain my iron man status on FTP. I'm still going to grind some full ring too (only to get points to maintain iron man), but i really think i'm gonna give HU a shot. Right now, i'm only 2 tabling, and i feel very comfortable doing this, but to get 5k hands, i may have to try to 3 table...we'll see. I've been practicing EXCELLENT game selection heads up, pretty much refusing to play anybody not playing just 1 table, and refusing to play anybody who's made money looking at table ratings. Yes it can take a little while to find the right opponent, but my winrate is crazy the past 3 months, and i think this is why. Bottom line, i'll keep you posted, but heads up, here i come!
Onto Vegas again. I'll finish off my other big hand from MGM to start. So utg staddles (so -ev IMO), anyway i'm UTG+1 with AK spades...so i make it $16...4 donkeys call, and so does the straddler (u can't fold after straddling right LOL)...flop comes J106 with the J and 10 of spades...so instead of betting out with my royal flush draw, i deciede on putting in a huge check raise when someone bets this flop, so i check...UTG+2 shoves all in for $90...ok, a little bit of an overbet, so my plan is kind of ruined...UTG+3 smooth calls with like $60 behind...WTF!!!! It gets folded to me...i figure i've got 14 outs twice to the stone cold nuts, so i really can't fold...so i decide to just shove....dude who smooth calls tanks (seriously bro, there is like almost $400 in the pot, and your debating calling your last $60)...so eventually he calls...neither of these donks turn their cards over....i just toss mine face up on the table...turn is a K...a nice card seeing as i have TPTK, but i'm still not loving my hand yet...river is a 2...both guys muck, and i take down the monster pot...i think it was pretty standard, but you may differ...
Ok, one funny story from Vegas and thats it...so we're at rumjungle in Mandalay Bay...and we're just sitting at the bar. I'm pretty much not talking to my fiance becuz i'm talking to my buddy about the grind earlier in the day, but she is sitting next to me. Out of left field, the waitress brings over a glass of champaign and says some dude sitting over there wants her to have this drink HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Seriously, guys may be the most pathetic ppl. on the planet!! Nice pick up line bro...so, she tries to refuse it, but tthe waitress is wierd, and says she can't...so she takes it, but doesn't want to drink out of it...so i proceeded to have the finest glass of champagne i've ever tasted...right in front of this tool LOL...i really wanted to go up to him and thank him for the glass of champaign i've ever tasted, becuz i think that would've been priceless, but i decieded against it...the fiance has pictures of me sipping on the champagne on her facebook, so you should check them out....the 4 of us spent like 3 hours straight mocking this guy, and thinking of zingers for me to say to him thanking him for the champagne...good times, good times.

Back From Vegas...online poker sucks
So, i'm back from vegas. Sorry for the lack of updates this month, it's been a pretty busy month for me, and to be honest, i really haven't put many hands in. Not to mention the fact that its pretty much a breakeven month which just makes me ill. First day back from vegas, i win about $350 playing cash games....and proceed to lose $320 of it yesterday...F online poker!!!
I'll be posting the month review in the next couple days, but i'm seriously thinking about moving to heads up full time...i've been dabbling in HU for the past 4 months or so, and every month, i've made a few hundo, this month is no different. I've actually been watching a bunch of HU videos too, and i feel like i can crush HU. I still like full ring, and need to play it to accumulate my full tilt points, but i may try to get half my hands for December in playing HU, and half full ring.
On to the Vegas report. Im gonna keep it pretty brief, and maybe next post, i'll add a few more tidbits, but i'm lazy right now. 1st day grinded some 1-2nl at Planet Hollywood (i read their cash games were terrible there). After 5 hours of play, i ended up with a stack of $302...for a $2 profit ZOMG!!! WTF!! A very unexciting day, although i really felt like i played some solid poker! I lost $135 on one hand, and that was about the only big hand i played. Never really pciked up a big hand, and just won small pot after small pot. The one exciting hand. I pick up AJ spades and bump it to 12...sb calls (some crazy brother who just lost $300 about 4 hands ago). Flop comes Q88...he checks, i bet $18...he calls (at this point i'm putting him on probably nothing...possibly a small pair like 33 or soemthing). Turn is one of the few cards in the deck i'm actually betting...K of spades...now i've got the royal flush draw....brother checks, and i deciede to bet $50 (K was a great card for me to represent since most donkeys put the pre flop raiser on AK). The brother thinks for a while and calls (WTF!!! i still feel he has the small pocket pair right now, thats why he's playing it so passive). River brings the Q of hearts for a final board of QQ88K...now the brother sits there for a minute and donks $50 into me...now at first this looks like a clear fold, but the more i thought about it, the more it looked like he really did have 22-77 and now he just got counterfieted, and if he checked, there was no way he was gonna win the pot, since he was playing the board....so after a few minutes, i deicede to call $50 with Ace high...and he turns over 33 ( LOL i wish), prick turns over KQ for the boat, NH sir! OOPS!!! Other then that...not much happened the 1st day.
Friday we go grind at MGM and grind for like 6 hours. Ended up like $325. 2 big hands were played, so i'll go over those, then i'll end this post since its getting to be a bit long. So its about my 7th hand at the table, and i pick up 86 soooooooted...since live poker is a joke, i deciede to limp utg+1 since utg limped as well....we see the flop 6 handed...it comes 10-8-6 (money!!!), bb checks, and utg bets $35...LOL WTF!!!! 35 into a 12 pot...so i'm very confused at this point, so i just smooth call, everyone else folds, turn is a 2...this guy pushes all in for $400 LOL....i was literally floored!!! I have to have this guy beat right??????? I don't know about to you guys, but to me, it looked like this donkey limped UTG with AA or KK hoping to limp re raise, and he ended up getting stuck in a 6 way pot, and was gonna win it no matter what....so i sat there for longer then i ever have at a poker table trying to get something out of this guy...i tell him i have 2 pair, i i'd bet the house he has AA or KK...eventually, i just muck, since i just sat down, and who knows, this guy could have anything since i don't know anything about him...i muck face up...the other 7 donkeys at the table proceed to start ripping me saying how the F can you fold there...and this UTG donkey deciedes to show us 10-8, for a higher 2 pair....he then says he didn't want anyone to suck out, thats why he went all in LOL wow buddy, you just saved me my stack...ty very much!! Anyway, i thought it was a pretty good laydown, even though i really still thought he misplayed AA.
Ok, thats enough for now, i'll post the other big hand from MGM next time....putting in $150 with no pair is VERY +ev IMO lol. Off to the tables

I'll be posting the month review in the next couple days, but i'm seriously thinking about moving to heads up full time...i've been dabbling in HU for the past 4 months or so, and every month, i've made a few hundo, this month is no different. I've actually been watching a bunch of HU videos too, and i feel like i can crush HU. I still like full ring, and need to play it to accumulate my full tilt points, but i may try to get half my hands for December in playing HU, and half full ring.
On to the Vegas report. Im gonna keep it pretty brief, and maybe next post, i'll add a few more tidbits, but i'm lazy right now. 1st day grinded some 1-2nl at Planet Hollywood (i read their cash games were terrible there). After 5 hours of play, i ended up with a stack of $302...for a $2 profit ZOMG!!! WTF!! A very unexciting day, although i really felt like i played some solid poker! I lost $135 on one hand, and that was about the only big hand i played. Never really pciked up a big hand, and just won small pot after small pot. The one exciting hand. I pick up AJ spades and bump it to 12...sb calls (some crazy brother who just lost $300 about 4 hands ago). Flop comes Q88...he checks, i bet $18...he calls (at this point i'm putting him on probably nothing...possibly a small pair like 33 or soemthing). Turn is one of the few cards in the deck i'm actually betting...K of spades...now i've got the royal flush draw....brother checks, and i deciede to bet $50 (K was a great card for me to represent since most donkeys put the pre flop raiser on AK). The brother thinks for a while and calls (WTF!!! i still feel he has the small pocket pair right now, thats why he's playing it so passive). River brings the Q of hearts for a final board of QQ88K...now the brother sits there for a minute and donks $50 into me...now at first this looks like a clear fold, but the more i thought about it, the more it looked like he really did have 22-77 and now he just got counterfieted, and if he checked, there was no way he was gonna win the pot, since he was playing the board....so after a few minutes, i deicede to call $50 with Ace high...and he turns over 33 ( LOL i wish), prick turns over KQ for the boat, NH sir! OOPS!!! Other then that...not much happened the 1st day.
Friday we go grind at MGM and grind for like 6 hours. Ended up like $325. 2 big hands were played, so i'll go over those, then i'll end this post since its getting to be a bit long.
